How to Change Your TikTok PFP

There are two types of profile icons you can set on TikTok: pictures and videos. That’s right. Besides having the ability to use photos as your page’s icon, you can also opt to upload a profile video. With a profile video, you won’t have to be limited to static images anymore and your page will look much livelier with a moving profile page icon.

Before, you can only change profile photos on mobile devices. But now, you can also do it using your desktop browser or the TikTok app installed on your computer.

1. On Android and iOS devices

   Changing Your Profile Photo

   To change your TikTok profile picture, do the following:

   1. Step 1

      Launch the TikTok app on your mobile.

   2. Step 2

      Press the “Profile” icon on the bottom right corner.

   3. Step 3

      

      Tap “Edit profile”.

      

      Alternatively, you can select your profile picture and tap the pencil icon on the corner. You will be immediately redirected to your phone’s gallery.

   4. Step 4

      

      On the “Edit profile” menu, tap your profile picture to change photo.

   5. Step 5

      

      Here, you can choose whether to take a new photo or select an image from your phone’s gallery.

      Tip: Save your existing profile picture by tapping “View Photo” and then clicking the downward arrow to download it. This way, you can always easily revert to your current profile picture if you decide to do so in the future.

   6. Step 6

      Tap the checkmark on the upper right corner, and then select “confirm” to upload photo.

   7. Step 7

      Crop the image, and then click “Save”.

      Your new profile picture has been saved.

   Changing Your Profile Video

   You also have the option to use video on your profile page. Here’s how:

   1. Step 1

      Launch TikTok.

   2. Step 2

      Go to your TikTok profile page by tapping the person icon on the bottom right corner.

   3. Step 3

      Tap “Edit Profile”.

   4. Step 4

      

      Choose “Change video” this time.

   5. Step 5

      Select one from your phone’s gallery.

   6. Step 6

      TikTok will ask you to trim your video. Your clip should only be 6 seconds long or less.

   7. Step 7

      Click “Save”.

      The video has now been uploaded to your TikTok profile. Instead of a static profile image, others will now see this video.

2. On Desktop

   Now, you can also change your profile picture on the TikTok website. Do the following:

   1. Step 1

      Open TikTok on your preferred browser (or the desktop app, if you have it installed).

   2. Step 2

      Tap your profile icon on the top right corner of the screen.

   3. Step 3

      

      Choose “View profile” on the drop-down menu.

   4. Step 4

      

      Click the “Edit profile” button.

   5. Step 5

      

      Click the tiny pencil icon on the corner of your profile picture.

   6. Step 6

      Select an image from your computer.

   7. Step 7

      Zoom in or zoom out the image, and then hit “Apply”.

   8. Step 8

      Don’t forget to save the new image.

      Do note that on the desktop, you can only change your profile picture, but not your profile video. If you want to change or remove a video, you have to do it using a mobile device.

Besides your username, your profile picture is the first thing that most people will see when they come across you on TikTok. It can help them decide to click on your username and follow your TikTok account. While some don’t bother themselves to choose the perfect profile icon, others like to take it more seriously.

• Funny profile pictures are definitely attention-grabbers. Snapped a hilarious image of yourself while streaming? Made a funny face? Use it as a profile picture. But be warned though that if your picture stands out enough, someone might create a meme out of it.
• Of course, uploading a picture of yourself is still a great option. Whether it’s a selfie or your face with a transparent background, your own picture is still one of the best choices to use as your TikTok icon.

If you want to level up your profile picture, you can use photo editing tools to do the job. Some of the best ones you can use are:

• Canva – Canva is an online graphic design platform that allows you to create and edit all kinds of images for your social media account. It’s free, but there’s also a premium version available.
• Prisma – Prisma is a photo editing mobile app. It uses AI to transform and enhance images.
• PicsArt – PicsArt is a creative platform you can use to edit images and videos. You can download the app on your mobile.
• Photoshop – Having Adobe Photoshop on your computer is really handy for making all sorts of profile pictures. Creating a logo from scratch, erasing your picture’s background, and adding effects are just some of the awesome things you can do on the software. If you don’t have Photoshop, there are great alternatives such as GIMP and Pixlr.
• TikTok – Although TikTok’s built-in editing feature is far from perfect, it’s still a great choice for its convenience and selection of filters. It’s simple, easy to use, and you won’t ever need to exit the app to edit your profile picture.

When creating or editing a new TikTok profile picture, here are some things you should keep in mind.

Your TikTok profile picture must be at least 20 x 20 px. For best results, upload a higher resolution picture from 100 x 100 px to 200 x 200 px. Not to worry because TikTok will ask you to crop it on the upload page.

If you’re uploading a TikTok profile video, the chosen clip mustn’t exceed 6 seconds. If you’ve chosen a longer video, you will still be given the option to trim it upon uploading.

Use an image or video that adheres to TikTok’s Community Guidelines. Don’t upload images that depict or contain any of the following:

• Harassment
• Bullying
• Gore
• Nudity
• Pornography
• Crimes against children
• Criminal activities
• Weapons
• Racism
• Self-harm
• Suicide
• …or any other content that violates the rules and guidelines of TikTok

In addition to those, avoid using profile pictures that violate or infringe someone’s copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights.
