TikTok is one of the biggest social media platforms to date. Even though it’s a relatively new app compared to the giants like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, it’s still one of the most used social media sites in the world with over 689 million users in 2021. With that staggering number of monthly active users comes a staggering amount of videos being published every day.

To delete a TikTok video using your desktop browser, do the following:

   Launch the TikTok app and log in to your account.

   Tap the profile icon (or the “Me” tab) at the bottom of the screen to access your profile page.

   Find the video you want to delete and select it.

   On the video page, tap the three dots icon on the right part of the screen.

   A pop-up window will appear. Scroll sideways until you find the trash can icon. Tap that to delete the video.

That’s how to delete a TikTok video on your desktop and your mobile. Keep in mind that if you delete TikTok videos, this action is irreversible and there’s no way to recover them unless you saved them on your device.

There are also tools and sites online that claim to have the ability to recover your deleted videos from TikTok. However, use them with caution. Aside from some of this software that might contain harmful files, most of these tools will only allow you to recover TikTok videos IF you happened to save them on your SD card.

   Open TikTok on your mobile device and log in to your account.

   Go to your TikTok profile page, and select “Draft”. You can usually see it on the top part of your video gallery, on the left side of the screen.

If you’re hesitating to delete TikTok videos permanently, you can instead make them private. All you have to do is to change the video’s security settings from “Everyone” or “Friends” to “Only Me”.

By making your video private, all the likes and comments the video has accumulated over time won’t be completely gone. They will stay there even if your video isn’t visible to the public.

Always back up your TikTok videos in case you accidentally deleted them, so it will be easier to find and reupload a copy. However, once you delete a video, all likes and comments it obtained will be gone forever.

The short answer is, no. However, if you believed the video has gone against TikTok’s Community Guidelines and Term of Service, you can try sending a report to TikTok. If you are being subjected to harassment, bullying, or the like, immediately report it in a video made by someone else.
