How to Find Someone on TikTok

There are a few ways on how you can find someone on TikTok. You can even find them without knowing their TikTok username. We’ve created a few simple guides on how you can find a particular TikTok account across multiple devices.

If you want to know how to find someone on TikTok, here are several things you can do.

On the App

The easiest way to search for someone is by looking them up through the app. Here are a few things you can do:

Use the Search Bar

It’s by far the easiest route to take on. You can try to find someone on TikTok by searching them on the search box. If you have their username, great. But if you don’t, there are still a few things you can do.

Follow these steps to find someone on TikTok using the search bar:

1. STEP 1

   Open the TikTok app.

2. STEP 2

   At the bottom of your screen, you can find Discover with a magnifying glass icon. Press it.

3. STEP 3

   Tap the search bar, and type in their username. Select the search suggestion that matches the username you’ve typed. It will lead you to the search results, and the most relevant suggestions will be listed under Users. Most likely, you will see it on the top of the results.

4. STEP 4

   Check their profile pic, their name, and their profile to see if this is the TikTok user you are looking for. If it is, then you’re all set! If it doesn’t quite match to the description of the person you’re looking for, try to go back again to search results and scan the ‘Users’ section. You may have misspelled the username or mistyped it, and there are a lot of TikTok users that have similar-sounding names.

If you don’t know their username, you can instead search their name. Repeat the same steps above, but this time, type in their name. They may have used their real name on TikTok, which you can see above their profile.

This one may involve a lot of profile checking and a little searching, but most of the time, you will be able to search their user account by typing in their name. If that doesn’t work, you still have other options to try.

Connect your Facebook Account

You can also find your friends by syncing your TikTok account with your Facebook. A lot of TikTok users also have Facebook accounts, so you might find them there through linking the two social media platforms.

Here’s how:

1. STEP 1

   Open the TikTok app, and go to Profile, located at the bottom of your screen and has a person’s silhouette as a logo.

2. STEP 2

   Once you’re on your profile page, tap the Find Friends icon (that one with a person’s outline and a plus sign) to find all your friends on Facebook.

3. STEP 3

   Find Facebook Friends in the option and tap Find.

4. STEP 4

   You can now see all your Facebook friends who have TikTok accounts, too. There’s a Follow button beside their name which you can press. You can also check their profiles first by tapping their name on the list.

Find them through their TikTok QR code

You can also find friends’ accounts through their TikTok QR code.

Ask your friend if you can follow them on TikTok. Then, ask them to give you their QR code.

To find a TikTok account’s QR code, follow these steps:

1. STEP 1

   Go to TikTok and tap the Profile button at the far right side at the bottom of your screen.

2. STEP 2

   Tap the three horizontal line icons, which you can see at the top right corner of the screen.

3. STEP 3

   This will lead you to Settings and Privacy. Under “Account”, find QR code and tap that.

4. STEP 4

   Use your phone to scan your friend’s QR code and it will go directly to their account.

Here’s a guide on how to find someone on TikTok using their QR code. You can either go to “Discover” or “Profile” for this one, all of which you can find at the bottom of the screen.

On “Discover”:

1. STEP 1

   Tap the Scan icon beside the search box.

2. STEP 2

   Scan your friend’s QR code. You will be redirected to their profile.

On “Profile”:

1. STEP 1

   Press the “Find Friends” icon.

2. STEP 2

   On the top right corner of the screen, you can also see a scan icon.

3. STEP 3

   Scan your friend’s QR code and now you can follow them.

Turn to Google for help

If you are too shy to ask someone their username or QR code, and still can’t find them by searching them on the app, you can try searching them via Google instead. This can be a time-consuming process as it will involve you searching their name and filtering out accounts to find them. If you try to search their name on Google, you may find their social media accounts or any content associated with that name.

Through Their Phone Number

You can also use your phone number to locate a friend’s TikTok account. Follow these steps:

1. STEP 1

   Go to TikTok and head over to your profile page.

2. STEP 2

   Tap the Find Friends icon on the top left corner of the screen.

3. STEP 3

   Go to Contacts and press the Find button beside it.

4. STEP 4

   TikTok will ask you if you want to sync your phone’s contact list with the app. To find contacts, allow TikTok to have access to it.

5. STEP 5

   You will see the TikTok accounts of those who are listed on your contacts.

On a Computer

If you’re using a computer, you can also find someone on TikTok there with just a few clicks. Here’s how:

1. STEP 1

   Go to TikTok and log in to your account.

2. STEP 2

   Using the search box, type in the username or name of your friend.

3. STEP 3

   On the search results page, go to Accounts. Find the user that matches the one your looking for. You can check their profile picture or page for this.
