If you've spent the amount of time on TikTok that I have, you've probably noticed that many content creators have multiple TikTok accounts. While most creators will be happy with one TikTok account, the reasons for creating a second (or even third or fourth account) can vary from person to person.

Whether you want to create content that doesn’t quite fit with your main TikTok account, or you want an account that is more closely associated with your business, the choice is ultimately yours.

This article will cover how to create a second TikTok account, how to connect your two accounts, as well as the restrictions and benefits of having multiple accounts.

Creating a Second TikTok Account

TikTok makes it very easy for users to create and swap between accounts right in the TikTok app. This step-by-step process will help you create multiple TikTok accounts that are connected.

  1. STEP 1

Open the TikTok app and tap Profile in the bottom right corner

    Profile button
  2. STEP 2

Tap the Three Lines icon in the top right corner

    Three line button
  3. STEP 3

Scroll to the bottom of the menu and tap Switch account

    Switch account
  4. STEP 4

Tap Add Account in the menu that pops up

    Add account
  5. STEP 5

Tap Use phone or email in the menu

    Use phone or email
  6. STEP 6

Input your birthday and tap Next

  7. STEP 7

Input the phone number or email you would like to use for your TikTok account (you can choose between the phone number and email via the option at the top of the screen)

    Email
  8. STEP 8

Create a password and tap Next

  9. STEP 9

Create a new username and tap Sign up

Now your new account and your existing account are linked together. You will now see both accounts in the switch accounts tab. You can repeat this process with other TikTok accounts.

To add multiple accounts, simply repeat this process by going to Switch Account and creating another new profile.

In the switch account tab, you will be about to easily switch to your other account. Any more accounts you add will be available here if you link them using the add account function.

New TikTok Account Restrictions

Creating a new account will require a different email address than your existing account.

An additional account cannot use the same phone number or account name as an existing TikTok account.

Your new TikTok account will not have the same followers, followed, or preferences. If you want to change or set your preferences in your new account, you can do so in the TikTok profile page.

You will not be able to log in to two TikTok accounts on the same device at the same time.

You are able to sign in to a second account on multiple devices.

Why Create Multiple TikTok Accounts?

As mentioned above, creating multiple accounts can be beneficial for a number of reasons.

Sometimes you will see creators add multiple accounts to produce different content that would not fit on their main account. A second account can be used as a more personal space for daily vlog posts for example.

Many users like to separate their business account and their social media account. To change an account to a business account:

  1. STEP 1

    Tap Profile

  2. STEP 2

    Tap the Three Lines Icon

  3. STEP 3

    Tap Manage account

  4. STEP 4

    Tap Switch to Business Account

  5. STEP 5

Follow the steps to help TikTok identify your business’ brand

Congratulations on Creating Your New Account

If you have followed this guide you now have a second account linked to your original account and you can get to posting!

This account (and any other accounts you make) can be completely separate from your main account, or you can create profile names that are similar to keep with your brand.

Have fun creating fresh content with these accounts, and make sure to promote them on other social media platforms!
