How to Tag Someone on Instagram on Mobile
You can tag people on your Instagram posts, stories, and comments on your mobile device. Thankfully, it’s pretty simple and easy for Instagram users who want to tag their friends.
There are a few different ways to tag people on the app, in posts, stories, and even in a comment. All you need is the username of the person you want to tag.

To tag someone in your post, complete the following steps:

Log in to your Instagram account and after choosing and uploading your photo or video for your Instagram post, tap the arrow or “next” button.

Tap “tag people” from the available options.

Tap on the photo.

Type out the names of the other Instagram users that you want to tag.

Tap the person’s profile icon when it pops up and move the tag where you would like it by dragging it.

When you are done tagging people, tap the checkmark on the top right of the screen. Keep in mind you are limited to 30 tags on your normal Instagram posts in order to publish your story.

Post your video or photo as a new Instagram post.

If you have already posted a photo or video but forgot to tag someone, you can still tag them to the existing post by completing the following:

Within the Instagram app, go to your profile icon and locate the picture or video you would like tagged and tap it.

Tap the three dots in the top right of your screen.

Tap “edit.”

Tap “tag people” which should be right above the caption field.

Tap the photo until it says. “Who’s this?”

Type in the username of the other users you would like to tag.

Tap the tagged user’s profile picture when it pops up. You can move the tag around wherever you like on the post by dragging it.

When finished tagging, tap the checkmark on the top right of your screen.

Tap the checkmark on the top right once again to finish editing your post.

When posting stories on the Instagram app, you can tag someone by doing the following:

After taking or uploading a photo or video for your Instagram story, tap the “Aa” on the top right corner of your screen.

Type “@” followed by the username of the individual you would like to tag.

Tap the person’s photo icon when it pops up.

When you’re done tagging, tap “done” on the top right of your screen. Keep in mind that you are limited to only 10 tags on your Instagram story in order to publish it. You can also move the tag around to where you want it by dragging it.

Here is how you can tag another user in an Instagram caption:

Tap “add a comment” underneath the photo or video.

Type “@” followed by the username of the person that you want to tag and tap their profile icon when it pops up.

After finishing your comment, tap “post” to tag someone in an Instagram comment. You should be able to go in and edit the comment again if necessary.
How to Tag Someone on Instagram on Desktop
To tag someone on Instagram using your desktop, you will need to use a third-party app or extension. There are several apps and extensions out there to choose from according to which browser you use. Here, we will go over OneUp and Desktopify, two social media tools.
OneUp
If you are running your business on desktop or planning on tagging a lot between multiple platforms, OneUp may be a good option for you as it allows you to schedule your posts and tag people in advance on multiple platforms and even put the posts on repeat to post again every few weeks or months if you wish. There is a fee of $6.00 a month, but if you’re posting often and are quite busy with a number of other things, it may be well worth it for you.
To tag on OneUp, as you are setting up your post and schedule, type “@” followed by the username of the individual you would like to tag.
DESKTOPIFY
Desktopify is an extension for Chrome that pretty well converts your Instagram page into what it would look like as if you were on your mobile device. To tag using Desktopify, follow these steps:

Install Desktopify.

Go to the Instagram website.

Click the extension button (puzzle piece) in the top right corner of your screen and click on Desktopify.

Log in to Instagram.

Upload a photo by clicking the + symbol on the bottom of the screen.

Click next on the top right.

When you go into “tag people,” the page says to tap on the photo to tag, however, I have tried this so many times and it just hasn’t worked for me. So instead, click on “write a caption” and start typing “@” followed by the person’s username. Click on their icon when it pops up.

Click share on the top right corner of the screen.
How to Delete Instagram Tags
To delete tags on Instagram posts, complete the following steps:

First, find the post that you wish to remove tags.

Click the three-dot icon in the top-hand corner of the image or video.

Select the available “Edit” option.

In the lower left-hand corner, the “Tag People” option will appear. Tap it.

Select the tag you want to remove.

When an “x” appears, tap it to remove the tag.

Either click the checkmark (on Android) or the “Done” button (on iPhone) to ensure that your changes are saved.
