If you’ve ever considered changing your YouTube channel name, I’ll show you how in this article.
Changing your YouTube channel name
Before you change your YouTube channel name, there are some things you must know first.
If you are a verified YouTube channel, know that you will lose that checkmark beside your name. In other words, you will lose your verified status.
However, if you’re already set on changing your YouTube name, you can always reapply to be verified again. It’s going to take a longer process, though, so you may as well have to be prepared for that.
If I change my YouTube channel name, will it affect my email, etc.?
Changing your channel name doesn’t necessarily affect the other services associated with your Google Account, such as your GMail and Google Drive. Your name won’t be affected, as well as the other details in your account if you’re using the same one across multiple Google Services. So, if you change your channel name, the name on your email as well as your Google Account name, etc., won’t be affected, unless you change it.

Reasons to Change Your YouTube Channel Name
There are plenty of reasons why you might want to change your name. Here are some of them:
- Rebranding your channel
- Shifting onto a different niche
- Narrowing down on your topic
- Separating your YouTube persona from your email which may be connected to your personal details
- No reason: you just want a new name
There’s another thing you can do if you’re hesitant to change your channel name. You can create a new channel with a new name while still using the same Google account. That way, you’ll keep the original name and have a new one at the same time.
There are downsides to creating a brand new channel, though. You will have to manage multiple YouTube channels, and it might take time for your new channel to take off. You can always use your first channel to promote your new one, though.
